What is the Cold and Flu IV?

The Cold and Flu IV is a one liter drip for sick days. It has fluids, vitamin C, zinc, B complex, and magnesium. It also has anti inflammatory pain medicine for the aches and fever. Anti nausea medicine is added on request. It takes about 45 to 60 minutes. It costs $260 mobile or $230 at the studio.

What’s in the bag

What’s in the Cold and Flu IV

Doses are set by our nurse practitioner. Your nurse can leave out any item you do not want.

Sterile fluids

Puts back the water a fever takes out. Eases the headache and the weak feeling.

Vitamin C

Supports your body while it fights the bug.

Zinc

A mineral your body uses to fight off colds.

B complex

Helps with the wiped out feeling that comes with being sick.

Magnesium

Eases body aches and helps you rest.

Anti inflammatory pain medicine

Eases aches and takes the edge off a fever. No pills to keep down.

Anti nausea medicine (on request)

Settles your stomach if you cannot keep food or water down.

Signs you need a Cold and Flu IV

Pick any two and this is your drip.

  • Your whole body aches.
  • You have a fever and chills, and you feel wrung out.
  • You cannot keep water or food down.
  • Your throat hurts too much to drink.
  • Your head and sinuses feel full and heavy.
  • You have had no energy for days.
  • You have been sick three days and are not getting better.
  • You are too weak to drive to a clinic.
  • You got sick on vacation and you are stuck in a hotel room.
  • You need to be back on your feet for work or a flight soon.

How fast does it work?

Most people feel a change in 20 to 30 minutes. The fluids work first. Then the pain medicine eases the aches and the fever. By the end of the bag, most people can eat, drink, and sleep. Sleep is where your body does the real work.

Here is the honest part. The drip does not kill the virus. Your body does that. The drip keeps you hydrated and comfortable while it happens. Most colds run about a week. The flu can run longer.

Here is why it beats a sports drink. A sick stomach does not want to drink. And your gut has to move that water into your blood, which takes hours. An IV skips that step.

Safety first

Is the Cold and Flu IV safe?

Yes, when a nurse gives it and a provider signs off. That is how we do it every time.

  • A registered nurse gives every IV.
  • Our nurse practitioner reviews every protocol.
  • Sterile, single use supplies.
  • Your nurse wears a mask and gloves for sick visits.
  • We check your temperature and vitals before we start.
  • We ask about your health and your medicines first.

Who should skip it or ask first: people with heart, kidney, or liver disease. People with stomach ulcers or bleeding problems, because of the anti inflammatory medicine. Anyone who is pregnant (see our Morning Sickness IV instead). Anyone with a known allergy to any item in the bag.

About COVID. If you have COVID, we can help with fluids and comfort only. We do not test for COVID and we do not treat it. Tell us when you book so the nurse can take extra care.

When to see a doctor or the ER instead

This is a wellness service. A cold or the flu can turn into something worse. Skip the IV and get medical care right away if you have any of these.

  • Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • A fever over 103
  • Confusion, or you are hard to wake up
  • Symptoms that have lasted more than 10 days
  • A cough with blood

Some people are at higher risk from the flu. That includes people over 65, pregnant women, and young kids. It also includes people with lung or heart disease, or a weak immune system. If that is you, call your doctor first. You may need flu medicine that only a doctor can give.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still wondering? Text us or call (480) 674-8268.

How fast can you get here?

Same day, most days. Mobile runs 8 am to 8 pm.

Will you come if I am contagious?

Yes. That is what this drip is for. Your nurse wears a mask and gloves and wipes down after.

Will it cure my cold or flu?

No. Your body has to fight off the virus. The drip helps you feel better and stay hydrated while it does.

Does it help with a sinus infection?

It helps with the pressure, the headache, and the dry, worn out feeling. It does not treat an infection. If you need antibiotics, see a doctor.

Can I get it if I have COVID?

Fluids and comfort only. We do not test for or treat COVID. Tell us when you book, and call your doctor if you are high risk.

Cold and Flu IV or Myers Cocktail?

Pick the Cold and Flu IV if you are sick now. Pick the Myers Cocktail to stay well.

How do I know if it is a cold or allergies?

A cold brings aches and sometimes a fever. Allergies bring sneezing and itchy eyes with no fever.

Can I still take my cold medicine?

Tell the nurse practitioner what you have taken. Some cold medicines overlap with what is in the bag. They will tell you what is safe.

Can I drive after?

Yes, unless you add the antihistamine. That one makes most people sleepy. Your nurse will tell you.

Does insurance pay for it?

No. Most HSA and FSA cards work. We take all major cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
