IV add-on Zinc

The immune mineral. Zinc helps your immune cells do their job.

Medically cleared by Mellisa Kerchief, NP, our Medical Director

Zinc also helps your skin heal. Most people get some from food, but not always enough. Add zinc to any IV drip. A registered nurse gives it at our Biltmore studio or at your door.

What is a zinc add-on?

A zinc add on is zinc mixed into your IV bag. It costs $32 at our studio and $35 on a mobile visit. It drips in with your fluids. No extra time. We do not offer zinc as a shot on its own. Want a shot? The Tri-Immune shot has zinc, vitamin C, and glutathione for $32. A registered nurse gives every drip.

What zinc does in your body

Zinc is a mineral. Your body cannot make it and cannot store much. It helps your immune cells grow and do their work. It helps cuts and scrapes heal. It helps your skin stay clear. It even helps you taste and smell.

You need a little zinc every day. Meat, shellfish, beans, and nuts have it. People who eat little meat can run low. So can people who sweat a lot. So can anyone under a lot of stress.

Cold and flu season. Planes, offices, and classrooms pass germs around. Many people add zinc to a drip at the first tickle in the throat. See our Cold and Flu IV and Myers Cocktail IV.

A note on taste. Some people notice a metal taste during the drip. That is the zinc. It fades soon after the bag is done.

Too much is not good. Zinc is one mineral where more is not better. Too much can upset your stomach and block other minerals. Our nurse practitioner sets the dose.

Signs you might want zinc

  • You feel a cold coming on.
  • Everyone at work or at home is sick.
  • You fly a lot.
  • Cuts and scrapes seem slow to heal.
  • Your skin breaks out.
  • You eat little meat or shellfish.
  • You sweat a lot in the heat.
  • You want more from an immune drip.

Safety first

Is it safe?

Yes, for most people, at the right dose. That is the key with zinc.

  • A registered nurse gives every IV.
  • Our nurse practitioner reviews every order and sets the dose.
  • Sterile, single use supplies.
  • We ask about your health and your medicines first.
  • Tell us if you take zinc pills. Too much zinc is not good.

Who should skip it or ask first: anyone with a known allergy to zinc. People with kidney disease. Pregnant or nursing? Ask your provider first. Our nurse practitioner decides.

This is a wellness service. We do not treat the flu or any infection. High fever, trouble breathing, or feeling very sick? See a doctor.
