IV add-on Magnesium

The calm down mineral.

Medically cleared by Mellisa Kerchief, NP, our Medical Director

Magnesium helps your muscles relax and your nerves settle. Heat and sweat drain it. So do hard hikes, long runs, and late nights. Add it to any IV drip. A registered nurse gives it at our Biltmore studio or at your door.

What is a magnesium add-on?

A magnesium add on is magnesium mixed into your IV bag. It costs $32 at our studio and $35 on a mobile visit. It drips in slowly with your fluids. Most people feel warm and calm as it goes in. We do not offer magnesium as a shot. It goes in the bag. A registered nurse gives every drip.

What magnesium does in your body

Magnesium is a mineral. Your body uses it for hundreds of jobs. It helps muscles relax after they tighten. It helps your nerves send calm signals. It helps you sleep. And it helps your heart keep a steady beat.

You lose magnesium in sweat. Alcohol and stress use it up too. Many people run a little low and never know it.

An IV puts magnesium right into your blood. Pills are slow. They can also upset your stomach. Many people cannot take enough by mouth for that reason.

The warm flush. As magnesium drips in, many people feel warm. Some feel it in their face or chest. It is normal. Tell your nurse and they will slow the drip. The feeling fades in a few minutes.

Signs you might want magnesium

  • Leg or foot cramps, day or night.
  • Tight neck and shoulders.
  • A migraine day. See our Migraine IV.
  • Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep.
  • You feel wound up and cannot settle down.
  • You sweat a lot from summer work, hiking, running, or golf.
  • Eye twitches that will not quit.
  • You had a big weekend and feel shaky.

Add-on or shot?

We do not offer magnesium as a shot. It goes in the bag and drips in slowly with your fluids. That is the comfortable way to get it.

Safety first

Is it safe?

Yes, for most people. Magnesium is a mineral your body needs every day.

  • A registered nurse gives every IV.
  • Our nurse practitioner reviews every order and sets the dose.
  • Sterile, single use supplies.
  • We ask about your health and your medicines first.
  • A warm flush during the drip is common. Your nurse slows the drip and it fades.

Who should skip it or ask first: people with kidney disease. People with certain heart rhythm problems. Anyone with a known allergy to magnesium. Our nurse practitioner decides.

This is a wellness service. It does not treat any disease. Feel dizzy or sick during the drip? Tell your nurse right away.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still wondering? Text us or call (480) 674-8268.

How much does a magnesium IV cost?

The add on is $32 at our Biltmore studio and $35 mobile. Add it to any drip. The Hydrate IV is $150 and makes a simple base. Members pay half on the add on.

Do you do magnesium drips near me?

Yes. See the full service area.

Does IV magnesium help migraines?

Magnesium is a key part of our Migraine IV. Many people say it eases a migraine day. It does not stop migraines for good. Talk to your doctor about ongoing migraines.

Does it help muscle cramps?

Yes, for most people. Cramps often come from lost fluids and lost minerals. An IV puts both back at once.

Will it help me sleep?

Many people sleep well the night after a magnesium drip. For sleep and stress, see the Stress and Sleep IV.

Why do I feel warm during the drip?

That is the magnesium. It opens up blood flow for a few minutes. Tell your nurse and they will slow it down.

Can I get magnesium as a shot?

No. We give magnesium in the IV bag only. It drips in slowly with your fluids.

Can I add it to any IV?

Yes. It goes in every bag on our menu. Some bags, like the Migraine IV and the Myers, already have it inside.

How often can I get it?

With every drip if you like. Our nurse practitioner sets a plan that fits you.

I take magnesium pills. Do I still need it?

Pills are slow and can upset your stomach. An IV skips that. Tell the nurse practitioner what you take so they can set the dose.

Does insurance cover it?

No. Most HSA and FSA cards work for eligible services. We take all major cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. See HSA and FSA details.

Loosen up.

Add magnesium to your next drip. Same day is usually open.
