What is a vitamin B12 add-on?

A vitamin B12 add on is B12 mixed into your IV bag. It costs $32 at our studio and $35 on a mobile visit. You can also get B12 as a shot for $32. The shot takes about five minutes. A registered nurse gives both.

What B12 does in your body

Your body uses B12 to make red blood cells. Those cells carry oxygen to every part of you. B12 also helps turn the food you eat into energy. That is why low B12 feels like being tired all the time.

You cannot make B12 on your own. It comes from food. Meat, fish, eggs, and milk have it. Plants do not. Your liver stores some. But the store runs down over time.

A shot skips your stomach. The B12 goes right into your body. Pills have to pass through your gut first. Some people do not soak it up well that way.

Signs you might want B12

  • You feel tired even after a full night of sleep.
  • Your brain feels foggy by noon.
  • You eat little or no meat, eggs, or dairy.
  • You are over 50. The gut absorbs less B12 with age.
  • You take a stomach acid reducer or metformin. Some medicines lower B12. Ask your doctor.
  • You feel run down after a big weekend.
  • You have a long week ahead and want a lift.
  • You are on a weekly shot plan and it is time for your next one.

If you think you are low, ask your doctor for a blood test. A test is the only way to know for sure.

Safety first

Is it safe?

Yes, for most people. B12 is a vitamin your body needs. Extra B12 that you do not use leaves in your urine.

  • A registered nurse gives every shot and every IV.
  • Our nurse practitioner reviews every order.
  • Sterile, single use supplies.
  • We ask about your health and your medicines first.
  • The shot may leave a small sore spot. It fades in a day.

Who should skip it or ask first: anyone allergic to B12 or cobalt. Pregnant or nursing? Ask your provider first. Tell the nurse practitioner about any kidney problems.

This is a wellness service. We do not treat anemia or nerve disease. If you think you are low, ask your doctor for a blood test.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still wondering? Text us or call (480) 674-8268.

How much does a B12 shot cost?

$32 at our Biltmore studio or added to a mobile visit. As an IV add on it is $32 studio and $35 mobile. Members pay half.

Do you do B12 injections near me?

Yes. See the full service area.

How often should I get a B12 shot?

Many people start with one shot a week. Then they move to once a month. Our nurse practitioner helps you pick.

Will a B12 shot give me energy?

If you are low, most people feel a lift within a few days. If your B12 is already fine, you may not notice much.

How fast does it work?

Some people feel a change the same day. For most it takes a few days. It builds with each shot.

Can I add B12 to any IV?

Yes. It goes in every bag on our menu. Some bags, like the Myers, already have B12 inside.

I am vegan. Do I need B12?

Plants do not have B12. Many vegans and vegetarians run low over time. Ask your doctor for a blood test if you want to know your level.

Does the shot hurt?

A small pinch. It is over in seconds.

What is the Booster Pass?

It is $50 a month. It takes 50% off boosters and shots, including B12. See memberships.

Yes. Or stop by the studio.

Does insurance cover it?

No. Most HSA and FSA cards work for eligible services. We take all major cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. See HSA and FSA details.
