What is mobile IV therapy in Alta?

It began about 1865 as a town for silver miners, and a fire in 1878 and an avalanche in 1885 destroyed most of it. The ski area opened its first lift on January 15, 1939, and it is still for skiers only.

Alta has no resort hotels, only lodges at the base of the ski area. The Good Life IV sends a registered nurse up the canyon to your room at Alta, or next door at Snowbird. The nurse checks your health first, then the drip runs about 45 to 60 minutes.

Why people in Alta book an IV

Over 8,500 feet

The base sits at 8,530 feet and the top at 11,068. That is a big jump for anyone who flew in that morning. The Hydrate IV puts fluids back in while you rest in your room.

Interlodge days

When avalanche danger is high, the Alta Marshal can order interlodge, and nobody travels outside. The canyon road closes with it. If an order lands on your visit, we set a new time with you.

Deep snow, tired legs

Alta Lodge puts the average at 547-plus inches of snow a year. A few powder days in a row wear you out, and The Athletic Performance IV can come to the lodge.

Where we go in Alta

Wildcat and Collins

Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge sits steps from the Wildcat and Collins lifts, by Alta’s main parking lot. Alta Lodge, the town’s first ski lodge, dates to 1940.

Popular here: Athletic Performance IV, Hydrate IV.

Albion Basin

The Sunnyside, Supreme and Sugarloaf lifts rise from Albion Basin. Snowpine Lodge is the closest lodge to the beginner area and the kids center.

Popular here: Energy Boost IV, Hydrate IV.

Snowbird

Snowbird sits down the canyon from Alta, about a mile from Alta Lodge. It opened in December 1971, and its aerial tram climbs to Hidden Peak. We come to The Cliff Lodge, The Lodge at Snowbird, The Inn and Iron Blosam.

UT-210

Alta’s lodges have UT-210 addresses, and the road climbs the canyon to them. When the traction law is on, or avalanche work closes the road, the nurse waits until it reopens.

How it works

How a mobile IV visit works in Alta

  1. Book online, call, or textTell us the drip, the address, and the time. Hotel guests, add your room number.
  2. Quick video callBefore your first IV you do a short video call with a nurse practitioner. She takes your history and writes your order. It takes about five minutes and it is good for one year. It is how we do it in every state.
  3. Your nurse arrivesYou get a text when they leave. They check your vitals first.
  4. The drip45 to 60 minutes for most drips. NAD+ takes 2 to 4 hours.
  5. DoneYour nurse packs up. You get on with your day.
