Bernalillo people drive both ways. South to Albuquerque. North to Santa Fe. Some ride the Rail Runner. Long days on I-25 wear people down. A monthly Myers helps.
Placitas is up the hill on NM 165. The Jemez is out the other way. Hikers, campers, and cyclists pass through all weekend. They come home sore and dry.
Coronado Historic Site draws day trippers. So does the old Camino Real. Visitors from lower places feel the height. An IV helps with the dry, dragging feeling many visitors get.
Balloon Fiesta Park is a short drive south on I-25. Rooms up here fill up in October too. We come the night before or the morning after.
How it works
Casino weekends. Wedding parties at the resort. Hiking groups back from Placitas. Work crews in town. Groups of 4 or more save 10 to 20 percent. Group IV therapy.
